Gasoline Prices Don't Always Track Crude Oil
AGF Investments analyst Pulkit Sabharwal discussed the relationship between crude oil and gasoline prices in an article. He explained that there is a deviation between the two, with gasoline often being more expensive than crude oil.
Sabharwal pointed out that this discrepancy occurs because of various factors such as refining costs, distribution expenses, and taxes. These added costs contribute to the final price of gasoline at the pump, making it higher than the cost of crude oil.
According to Sabharwal, this phenomenon is not new and has been observed in the past as well. He emphasized that investors should be aware of these underlying factors when analyzing the relationship between oil prices and fuel costs.
