Gazprom Gas Supply Uncertainty Looms Over Moldova

Moldova's Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said the government has solutions in place if Gazprom interrupts gas supplies as of May 1. The Moldovan cabinet has been waiting for an answer from Gazprom on gas deliveries starting from that date, but so far, none have been received.

Gavrilita explained that last year's energy crisis experience will help the country navigate this situation. She also mentioned that seven international companies are willing to supply natural gas to Moldova, including Romania, Poland, and the Netherlands.

Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu emphasized that the government has viable options in place to maintain energy security and ensure continuous supply of electric energy and natural gas to citizens. He noted that an audit on historical debts of Moldovagaz will not be completed by May 1, which may lead to difficulties in gas supply.
