Georgia Labor Day Travelers Face Record-High Gas Prices

Georgia's Labor Day travelers are facing higher gas prices this year as demand for travel pushes fuel costs up. According to AAA, the state's average gas price has risen to $3.89 per gallon, a 7-cent increase from last month and 11 cents higher than last week.

The national average is also at a record high, reaching $4.14 per gallon, up 7 cents from last week. Crude oil prices above $90 per barrel are contributing to the increased costs, outweighing the seasonal drop in gasoline demand.

Georgia drivers can expect to pay around $58.35 for a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, with the most expensive metro markets being Savannah ($3.96), Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.93), and Macon ($3.91).
