The German non-ferrous metals recycling market experienced price easing in the final week of August. This came despite the LME copper price stabilizing at a high level, fluctuating around US$13,700 per tonne with pronounced day-to-day swings.

Wholesalers reported lower prices for various scrap metal grades. Copper scrap saw a decline of €15-20 per 100 kg, depending on the grade. Brass scrap lost €10 last week, while stainless steel and aluminium scrap also experienced price reductions.

Purchase prices for V2A and V4A stainless steel scrap declined slightly by €3 and €5 per 100 kg, respectively. All aluminium scrap grades covered by MBI recorded price reductions of €5. Zinc and lead scrap prices remained unchanged from the previous week.
