Germany-UAE Energy Partnership Deepens with €3 Billion Offshore Wind Plans
Germany and the United Arab Emirates are strengthening their energy partnership as RWE, Masdar, and ADNOC collaborate on potential offshore wind investments worth over €3 billion. The agreements were signed during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's state visit to Germany in September.
RWE and Masdar will explore joint participation in German offshore wind auctions in 2027 under a memorandum of understanding. This comes as offshore wind is expected to become a key part of Europe's future power system, providing large-scale renewable electricity while supporting efforts to strengthen energy security and reduce emissions.
The partnership also includes discussions on long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to Germany and other European markets, with potential deliveries from ADNOC Gas and XRG's expanding LNG portfolio. The talks build on a strategic collaboration agreement signed by RWE and ADNOC in February 2026.
