Global Corn Prices Climb Amid Yield Worries and Disruptions to Global Supplies
Corn prices have risen as concerns about yields grow due to recent crop tour findings. The tours, which took place in major producing states such as Illinois and Iowa, revealed lower corn yields compared to last year's levels and recent averages. In Illinois, one of the top corn-producing states in the United States, corn yield estimates were significantly lower than 2025 and the three-year average.
In Iowa, crop tour scouts found mixed results across several districts, with corn yields generally lower than a year ago. However, soybean pod counts remained at or above historical averages in many locations.
Supply concerns are not limited to the United States, as Europe has experienced extreme summer heat reducing crop production expectations. Disruptions in the Black Sea region have also slowed grain exports from a major global supplier, creating further uncertainty for world markets.
