Global Oil Prices Soar Amid Gulf Region Crisis
Global energy supplies are facing a severe crisis due to recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and Iranian vessels in the Gulf region. The disruption has led to a significant surge in crude oil prices, with Brent crude rising by over 2.77 percent to $107.51 per barrel, while WTI futures increased by 2.27 percent to $102.32 per barrel.
The closure of Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline, which was forced by a drone attack from Iraq last Friday, has halted oil exports that bypass the Strait of Hormuz, putting approximately 4 percent of global oil supplies at risk.
The geopolitical instability in energy supplies has raised concerns about rising global inflation. Following higher-than-expected US consumer price index data, there is an 86 percent probability that the US Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 25 basis points on Wednesday.
