Global Stocks Rise on AI-Related Gains and Lower Oil Prices
Global stocks mostly rose on Thursday, driven by gains in AI-related shares and oil prices falling. The France's CAC 40 edged up 0.1% to 8,685.40, while Germany's DAX added 0.4% to 26,445.93.
Britain's FTSE 100 shed 0.4% to 10,791.07, but U.S. shares were set to drift moderately higher with Dow futures up nearly 0.1% at 53,921.00 and S&P 500 futures rose nearly 0.1% to 7,775.25.
Earlier in Asia, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 advanced 1.2% to finish at 68,308.59, while South Korea's Kospi jumped 3.6%, with Samsung Electronics shares surging 4.9%
Computer chipmaker SK Hynix jumped 9%. However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.2% to 25,378.14 and the Shanghai Composite index fell 0.5% to 3,926.96.
