Global Supply Concerns Drive Overseas Demand for US Crude Oil
Overseas buyers are increasingly purchasing U.S. crude oil due to supply concerns spreading from the Middle East to the Black Sea, according to Transport Topics.
The attacks on two Saudi oil tankers by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in the Red Sea and Kazakhstan's production curbs after Ukrainian drone attacks have heightened global supply concerns.
As a result, South Korean refiner GS Caltex and India's state-owned Bharat Petroleum Corp. bought U.S. oil at premiums this week, with barrels scheduled to be loaded in August.
The elevated overseas demand is set to have domestic repercussions in the U.S., potentially increasing pump prices for consumers and aggravating inflation in the run-up to midterm elections.
