Golar LNG Orders $2.45 Billion FLNG Vessel from Chinese Yard
Golar LNG has signed an agreement with Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore to build its fourth floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit. The contract is valued at approximately $2.45 billion and includes a delivery deadline of the end of 2029.
The new vessel will have an annual liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tonnes, increasing Golar LNG's controlled liquefaction capacity by about 40% to more than 12 million tonnes per annum. This project marks the second generation design for Golar LNG and shares specifications with FLNG Esperanza, which is currently under construction at the same facility.
Black and Veatch will provide licensed liquefaction technology, detailed engineering, and process design support for this project. Yantai CIMC Raffles Chief Executive Officer Wang Jianzhong expressed confidence in delivering the project efficiently due to the experience gained from previous projects and significant synergies in repeat designs.
