Gold and Silver Prices Climb Amid Weaker Dollar and Lower Yields
Gold and silver prices are on the rise again after a brief pause in their upward trend. Silver has gained around 5% so far, while gold is up by more than 2%. The latest price action did not begin today, but rather started two days ago when gold climbed from approximately $4,066 to $4,266, a rise of close to 5%. Silver began its move one day earlier and advanced from around $58 to $62.
The current rally is supported by several key market factors. A weaker US dollar has made precious metals more affordable for international buyers, while lower Treasury yields have reduced the appeal of government bonds. Cooling US labor indicators have also eased concerns about higher interest rates, which would typically support bond returns and a stronger dollar.
The main technical resistance level for gold is near $4,337, while silver needs to clear $65 before targeting $67 and $71. The upcoming US Nonfarm Payrolls report could change the market outlook, potentially altering expectations for interest rates, Treasury yields, and the US dollar.
