Gold and Silver Prices Set for Volatile Week Ahead of Fed Decision

Gold and silver prices are expected to remain volatile in the coming week due to several factors. The US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on September 15-16 is a key event that will influence market sentiment, according to analysts.

Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities, said gold will be highly sensitive to Fed commentary and crude oil movements in the coming week. A moderation in crude prices or a less hawkish stance by the Fed could support a recovery in gold, while renewed strength in crude oil or a hawkish policy signal may trigger fresh selling.

Last week, gold futures for October delivery edged up ₹17 to ₹1,52,784 per 10 grams on MCX, while silver fell ₹2,684, or 1.13%, to settle at ₹2.34 lakh per kilogram. Comex gold futures for December delivery fell 1.5% to $4,408.9 per ounce and silver declined 2.34% to $65.19 per ounce.
