Gold and Silver Prices Soar Amid Global Uncertainty
Precious metals saw significant gains on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) over the past week, driven by global uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. Gold futures for August delivery rose by Rs 2,200 to close at Rs 1.43 lakh per 10 grams, while silver futures for September delivery gained Rs 5,735 to settle at Rs 2.22 lakh per kilogram.
The recent price action was largely shaped by international developments and volatility in the energy sector. Rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving trade routes and regional stability, heightened concerns over supply chains. This was compounded by fluctuations in crude oil prices, which briefly crossed the $100 per barrel mark for Brent crude during periods of supply disruption risk.
Historically, gold acts as a hedge against such volatility, as investors shift capital toward assets that are perceived to maintain value during periods of international instability. The upcoming U.S. Federal Reserve policy decision is now the primary focus for market participants, with investors looking for clues regarding the Fed's stance on inflation and future interest rate adjustments.
