Gold Breaks Two-Month High on US Inflation Data
Gold prices surged to their highest level in over two months on Wednesday after US inflation data met expectations. The commodity rose 0.9% to $4,406.64 per ounce by 17:30 GMT, breaking above its 100-day moving average of $4,387.22.
The price climb was also reflected in other metals, with silver rising 1.3% to $65.49 per ounce and platinum increasing 0.9% to $1,759.50. Palladium, however, gained a more modest 0.5% to $1,367.23.
US gold futures also settled 0.6% higher at $4,467.5, while December 2026 delivery contracts on the Comex exchange rose above $4,500 per troy ounce for the first time since June 5, 2026.
