Gold Corrects Sharply from Recent High, Historically a Normal Feature

Gold prices have corrected sharply from their recent high in September after reaching Rs 1,63,229 per 10 grams on August 24.

This raises questions about how unusual it is for gold to experience a double-digit correction.

Data going back to 1980 shows that sizeable declines within a year have been a regular feature of gold's journey.

The average intra-year drawdown over this period has been around 13 percent, according to the FundsIndia Research.

A sharp fall during the year did not necessarily mean gold finished that year in the red.
