Gold prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) plummeted by Rs 2,045 to Rs 1,54,236 per 10 grams in futures trade on Monday.

The decline was attributed to weaker demand in the spot market, with analysts pointing to a decrease in gold contracts for October delivery.

Silver prices also took a hit, falling by Rs 1,955 per kg to Rs 2,40,489 per kilogram in futures trade on Monday.

Market participants reduced their positions, leading to the decline in silver prices, according to analysts.
