Gold Edges Higher Amid Middle East Tensions and Labor Market Uncertainty
Gold prices edged higher on Tuesday as investors weighed conflicting statements over possible US-Iran talks while awaiting key US labor market reports.
The spot price of gold rose by 0.2% to $4,059.81 per ounce as of 0257 GMT.
Ajay Kedia, director of Mumbai-based Kedia Commodities, said that gold is currently trading in a consolidation phase and predicted that any weakness in the labor market could put pressure on the US dollar, supporting gains in gold.
The market is closely watching several key US employment reports this week, including Job Openings (JOLTS) data due later on Tuesday, the ADP private payrolls report on Wednesday, and the nonfarm payrolls report on Friday.
