Gold Edges Higher as Traders Eye Key Resistance Levels
Gold prices are edging higher on Wednesday as traders attempt to recover from Tuesday's setback. The metal dipped below its previous low at $4324.68 but strong buying prevented it from challenging last week's swing bottom at $4311.04.
A trade through this level would have shifted momentum to the downside, marking a change in trend. However, buyers have already reclaimed the midpoint of gold's short-term range at $4360.44, driving prices into the long-term 50% level at $4416.00.
Overtaking this level with conviction could trigger a surge into the swing top at $4449.83, while overcoming it will take gold out of bear-market territory but not necessarily signal the start of a new bull market.
The next upside objective for gold is to recapture its 200-day moving average at $4509.26, which could bring in new institutional money and further extend the rally.
