Gold ETFs Attract $3 Billion as Investors Return to Safe Haven Asset
A recent report from the World Gold Council shows that gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced significant gains in July, netting US$3 billion and lifting total assets under management to US$530 billion. This rebound follows two consecutive months of net outflows.
According to the WGC, global gold ETFs recorded a 1% increase in total assets under management, with collective holdings rising by 23 tonnes to 4,068 tonnes. Despite this gain, the current levels remain below the all-time high of 4,176 tonnes reached in February 2026.
The report attributes the recovery in gold ETF inflows to several factors, including a correction in global equity markets and lower gold prices over recent months. Additionally, ongoing uncertainty surrounding the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy and persistent geopolitical tensions have reinforced gold's appeal as a safe-haven asset.
