Gold ETFs See Record Inflows Amid Price Rally
Global gold-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw an influx of $18 billion in August, marking the second-largest monthly flow on record. This surge was driven primarily by North America and European-listed funds.
North America recorded its third-largest monthly inflow at $7.7 billion in August, while Europe posted its largest-ever flow at $7.9 billion. Asia added $2 billion in August, the strongest month since February, with China dominating regional inflows due to stabilizing and rebounding local gold prices.
The combined holdings of global gold ETFs rose by 121 tonnes to 4,189 tonnes, the highest on record, while assets under management (AUM) increased by 16% to $615 billion. This rise was fueled by positive flows and a higher gold price.
