Gold futures contracts on the COMEX exchange broke above $4,500 per troy ounce for the first time since June 5, 2026. This milestone was reached after a 1.39% increase in price to $4,502.70 per troy ounce.

The December delivery contract eventually pared its gains, trading at $4,490.50 per troy ounce by the end of the day, still up 1.11%. However, this temporary decline did not deter the overall upward trend.

Silver futures also saw a significant rise during the session, with September-delivery contracts increasing by 2.26% to reach $66.40 per troy ounce.
