The price of gold futures contracts for August delivery on the COMEX exchange has declined below $4,450 per troy ounce.
This marks the first time since August 19 that gold futures have dropped below this threshold.
As of 2:48 a.m. GMT, the gold price was down by 1.86% at $4,445.6 per troy ounce.
However, by 2:59 a.m. GMT, the decline slowed down, with gold trading at $4,472.4 per troy ounce (-1.27%).
