Gold Hits ₹1.61 Lakh, Silver Nears ₹2.5 Lakh Amid Weaker Dollar
Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) surged to ₹1.61 lakh per 10g, while silver prices rose to nearly ₹2.5 lakh per kg on Friday.
The rally comes as international gold prices reached a near three-month high due to a weaker US dollar and shifting expectations on US interest rates.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted that the government could increase repurchases of Treasury securities further, which has stirred market volatility and put fresh focus on yields, rates, and the broader debt picture.
The Fed rate outlook remains central to gold's outlook, with markets pricing in a 67% chance that the Fed holds rates steady next month, versus 33% for a hike.
