Gold Holds Firm in India as Global Mood for Bullion Remains Positive
Gold prices in India remained firm on Monday, August 3, due to a positive global mood for bullion after the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged last week. The weaker US dollar and ongoing safe-haven buying contributed to the increase in gold prices.
The price of gold stood at ₹14,436 per gram for 24-carat, ₹13,224 per gram for 22-carat, and ₹10,830 per gram for 18-carat. In major cities, the prices were as follows: New Delhi (₹14,436), Mumbai (₹14,421), Chennai (₹14,460), and Kolkata (₹14,421).
Silver prices also remained firm in the domestic market, with a price of ₹236 per gram for 999 purity. The price of one kilogram of silver was ₹2,36,000.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold and silver futures continued to trade with a positive bias following global cues. Gold futures stood at Rs 1,41,599, while silver futures stood at Rs 2,17,488 per kg.
