Gold Holds Steady Despite Weak US Durable Goods Data
Gold prices held steady despite weak US durable goods data on Monday, showing a limited reaction to the disappointing figures. Spot gold was last trading at $4,087.17, up 0.80% on the day.
The Commerce Department announced that US durable goods orders rose 0.3% in June, which came in below economists' consensus expectations of a 1.6% increase. The data highlighted continued weakness in the US manufacturing sector.
Gold prices showed some support from the decline in the dollar index, which slipped 0.3%, making gold cheaper for buyers using other currencies.
