Gold Investor Sentiment Plunges Amid Interest Rate Uncertainty
The Gold Investor Index has dropped to its lowest level in eight months due to a decline in investor sentiment, according to BullionVault's latest data. The index measures the balance between gold buyers and sellers and currently stands at 54.9, down from 56.8 in June.
BullionVault director of research Adrian Ash attributes the decline to uncertainty over interest rates, which is weighing on gold prices. He notes that while gold tends to thrive on uncertainty, it dislikes uncertainty over interest rates.
The number of private investors buying gold dropped by 25.8% in July compared to June, while the number of investors selling gold fell by 22.7%. This has led to a 1.9-point decline in the Gold Investor Index.
