Private investors who include precious metals in their portfolios are forecasting a significant rebound for gold by New Year 2027. According to BullionVault's latest Investor Survey, respondents expect the price of gold to rise by £500 per troy ounce, taking it back up to £3,500.

This would reverse nearly half of the 25% decline since hitting all-time price highs above £4,000 at the start of the year. The survey polled over 950 full responses and found that investors are bullish on gold's outlook, despite its current price remaining below record highs.

BullionVault director of research Adrian Ash notes that central banks continue to buy gold, Asian consumer demand is expected to return in the autumn, and private investors remain positive. The survey also points to a broadening investor base, with more than one-third of respondents first investing in precious metals since 2020.

Investors are using precious metals as part of a wider portfolio, spreading risk amid concerns over the AI bubble and oil-led inflation's impact on bonds. On average, respondents expect gold to rise significantly by New Year 2027, predicting a gain of 13.8%, the strongest mid-year forecast in the survey's 12-year history.
