Gold Price Jumps Again in Bangladesh: New Rate Hits Tk 247,743
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased the price of gold in the domestic market, raising the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,633 per bhori to Tk 2,47,743 per bhori. This hike is effective from 10am on Tuesday and includes VAT.
The new prices will remain applicable at all jewellery shops until further notice, with making charges depending on the design of the jewellery. Bajus also clarified that customers cannot be charged VAT separately since it is already included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments.
This latest adjustment brings the total number of times gold prices have been adjusted this year to 107, with 55 hikes and 51 cuts. Silver prices, however, remained unchanged at Tk 5,482 per bhori for 22-carat, Tk 5,249 for 21-carat, Tk 4,491 for 18-carat, and Tk 3,383 for traditional silver.
