Gold Price Outlook Bright Amid Ongoing Economic Concerns
The outlook for gold and silver prices is strong, according to Jeffrey Christian of CPM Group. He expects many of the political, economic, financial, and social concerns that drove the long-term increase in precious metals markets over the past 25 years to continue supporting investment demand for gold.
In 2000 and 2001, CPM Group predicted a more difficult environment would lead investors to seek safe-haven assets like gold. At the time, gold was trading near $260 around September 2001. Today, it is near $4,400 after reaching substantially higher levels earlier in 2026.
Christian notes that despite high prices encouraging more mine supply, recycling, investor profit-taking, and efforts to reduce fabrication use, strong investment demand can override these physical-market pressures.
