Gold Price Rally Puts Junior Explorers Under Spotlight
The gold price surge has put explorers in the spotlight as the precious metal's spot price reaches its highest level since mid-May 2026, sitting at around US$4,676 ($6,530) an ounce.
This increase comes as concerns over US debt management and fiscal sustainability persisted following the Treasury’s unexpected ramp up in longer-dated debt buybacks, pushing bond yields and the dollar lower and reviving the debasement trade. As a result, gold's appeal as an alternative store of value has been boosted.
Certain Australian junior explorers are benefiting from this rally, with companies such as Antipa Minerals (ASX:AZY), Legend Mining (ASX:LEG), Green & Gold Minerals (ASX:GG1), and Australian Gold and Copper (ASX:AGC) gaining attention for their gold discovery efforts.
