The price of gold in Bangladesh has increased significantly following a rise in global market prices. According to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the price of good-quality, or 22-carat, gold has risen by Tk 5,482 per bhori today.

This new price came into effect at 10am today and has pushed the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold to Tk 246,110. The prices of other types of gold have also increased: 21-carat gold now costs Tk 235,030, 18-carat gold is Tk 201,845, and gold under the traditional method is Tk 164,812.

The price increase was mainly driven by a rise in gold prices in the global market. Although BAJUS cited the rise in the price of tezaabi gold in the local market as another reason for the increase, the decision to raise prices was largely influenced by international market trends.
