Gold Price Tumbles as Bond Yields Rise, Inflation Fears Persist
The gold price has taken a downturn, mirroring the struggles of stocks and bonds. According to Fawad Razaqzada, StoneX Media Market Analyst, this decline is largely driven by rising bond yields. As these yields increase, it becomes more expensive to hold gold, which does not pay interest.
Rising oil prices have also kept inflation concerns alive, further pressuring the price of gold and bitcoin. The US dollar has firmed up, making other currencies less attractive in comparison. This dominance of the US dollar is unlikely to change until a 'dollar debasement trade' returns.
