Gold Price Volatility: US Gold Hits $4,374 as Fed Rate Hike Bites
The price of gold in the US has seen volatility on August 14, 2026, following a previous rally. The domestic benchmark for 24-karat gold stands at $143.50 per gram, while the international benchmark is around $4,374 per troy ounce. However, spot gold stood at $4,351.45 per ounce in Friday's trade after a 1.3% decline the previous day.
The current development is due to profit booking, shifts in outlook towards interest rate policy by the Federal Reserve, a stronger dollar, and geopolitical uncertainty. Saxo Bank analyst Ole Hansen said that gold trades lower for a second day as profit-taking sets in following a strong run of gains.
The prices of other precious metals have also been affected, with silver experiencing a 0.8% decline to $63.92 per ounce on Friday. The current market is particularly sensitive to US rates, Treasury yields, the dollar, and geopolitical developments.
