Gold Prices Climb as Dollar Weakens Ahead of Inflation Data
Gold prices gained on Tuesday as the US dollar weakened, ahead of key inflation data releases that could shape expectations for the Federal Reserve's next policy move.
The spot gold price rose by 0.6% to $4,429.89 per ounce at around 0208 GMT, while US gold futures for December delivery were little changed at $4,475.10.
The US dollar index fell by 0.4%, making greenback-priced metals more affordable for other currency holders.
According to Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Group, 'gold remains locked in a battle between buyers and sellers, with neither party showing enough conviction to drive a sustained and persistent directional move.'
The US producer price index data is due on Thursday, followed by the consumer price index data on Friday.
