Gold Prices Decline as Silver Soars in India
India's gold market has seen significant fluctuations in prices this year, with gold becoming increasingly expensive. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has decreased by ₹610 to ₹1.61 lakh on August 26.
The price of one kilogram of silver has increased by ₹2,299 to reach ₹2.44 lakh, while gold has become ₹28 thousand more expensive this year. On December 31, 2025, the price of 10g of gold was at ₹1.33 lakh, which has now reached ₹1.61 lakh.
Anindya Banerjee, Senior VP and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, believes that gold will continue to see an upward trend even in difficult conditions ahead. He predicts that the price of gold could reach 1.70 lakh rupees by December, while the price of silver could go up to 3 lakh rupees.
