Gold prices have taken a dip in India, according to data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). On Wednesday, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold fell by Rs 610 to Rs 1.61 lakh.

This decline comes despite gold having gained around Rs 29,000 so far in 2026. The current price is higher than its value on December 31, 2025, when it was priced at Rs 1.33 lakh per 10 grams.

Silver has also seen an increase during this period, rising from Rs 2.30 lakh per kg on December 31 to Rs 2.44 lakh currently. Central banks, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), have been purchasing gold, supporting its price.
