Gold Prices Dip Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
The gold prices in India have taken a slight dip due to international market fluctuations and ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. According to Good Returns, the current price of 24 carat gold is Rs 15,202 per gram, down from Rs 15,409 on September 1. The 22 carat gold price stands at Rs 13,395 per gram, while 18 carat gold is priced at Rs 11,402 per gram.
The prices have decreased due to the ongoing tensions in West Asia, with Iran's military launching counterattacks against US bases in Jordan and Iraq. This has led to a sharp increase in crude oil prices, reaching a nearly six-week high on Tuesday. The US military launched strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, sparking concerns over global energy supply disruptions.
Domestic bullion markets are reflecting these broader financial strains, with local gold prices fluctuating in line with international spot rates and currency movements. Despite a brief lull in military clashes after a 60-day ceasefire was negotiated by Washington and Tehran, the fragile deal has been shattered, prompting both countries to scrap the agreement and restart active fighting.
