Gold Prices Drop Again in Bangladesh's Local Market
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced the price of gold in the country's local market for the second time this month. The latest price cut, which came into effect on September 8th, lowered the cost of 22-carat gold ornaments by Tk1,108 per bhori to Tk234,038.
This reduction follows a drop in the price of gold bullion in the local market, according to Bajus. The organization stated that the decision was made at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
The prices of other types of gold ornaments have also been reduced. 21-carat gold ornaments now cost Tk223,541 per bhori (down from Tk224,590), while 18-carat gold ornaments are priced at Tk191,931 per bhori (down from Tk192,864). Traditional-method (Sanatan) gold ornaments were cut by Tk700 per bhori to Tk156,822.
The two rounds of price cuts have brought down the price of 22-carat gold ornaments by a total of Tk3,324 per bhori. Despite this reduction in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged, with 22-carat silver ornaments still costing Tk5,132 per bhori, including VAT.
