Gold Prices Edge Higher Amid Inflation Data and Interest Rate Uncertainty
Gold prices rose on Thursday, August 13, following a two-month high reached on Wednesday, as investors assessed US interest rates after inflation data.
The precious metal edged higher in early trading, reaching an intraday high of $4,509.10 an ounce and a low of $4,456.50 an ounce on the COMEX exchange.
Silver, however, declined, moving between $66.45 and $65.22 an ounce during the session, quoted at $65.58 an ounce on COMEX.
The rise in gold prices follows a 0.9% increase on Wednesday, when spot gold rose to $4,406.64 an ounce and US gold futures settled 0.6% higher at $4,467.50 an ounce.
