Gold Prices Fall Across Markets in Bangladesh Amid Domestic Decline
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in gold prices across markets in the country. This comes after three consecutive increases, where the price of 22-carat gold was cut by Tk 2,158 per bhori.
As of August 14 at 10:00am, a bhori of 22-carat gold will be sold for Tk 234,621. According to BAJUS, this adjustment is due to a decline in the price of pure gold, also known as tejabi gold, in the domestic market.
The new prices will remain in effect until further notice at jewellery shops nationwide. For comparison, 21-carat gold will now cost Tk 224,065 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 192,398. Traditional-method gold costs Tk 157,172 per bhori.
The price of silver remains unchanged, with a bhori of 22-carat silver selling for Tk 5,074, and other types of silver also maintaining their previous prices.
