Gold Prices Hang in Balance Ahead of US Jobs Data
The upcoming US jobs data is expected to have a significant impact on gold prices, which are currently testing resistance near $4,300. Strong job numbers could push the price back below its 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) and towards the $4,000 region, while weak data may keep rallies in check at $4,500.
The current resistance level is a descending trend line on the 4-hour chart, which stretches from the April 17 high. A break above this trend line could lead to a strong rally to $4,450, while a break below $4,120 would indicate that the recent rebound was just a short-term move and the price remains negative.
Investors are closely watching the jobs data as it has the potential to influence gold prices in the near term. A strong job market could lead to increased investor confidence and a stronger dollar, which would likely put downward pressure on gold prices. On the other hand, weak job numbers may keep gold prices from breaking above $4,500.
