Gold Prices Hold Steady Above ₹1.5 Lakh Threshold Amid Market Volatility
Gold prices remained elevated in the domestic market on Thursday, August 13, despite MCX gold and silver taking a breather during intraday trade. Retail gold rates hovered above ₹1.5 lakh per 10-gram threshold for 24K gold across major markets. At 12:25 PM IST, MCX gold was quoted at ₹1,53,918 per 10 grams, lower by ₹964 or 0.62% compared to the previous close.
MCX silver also saw a decline, trading near ₹2,35,574 per kg, down ₹2,261 or 0.95%. The contract touched an intraday high of ₹2,38,000 and a low of ₹2,35,311. Retail gold rates in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and others remained close to record-high territory.
For investors, MCX prices provide insight into futures-market sentiment, while jewellery buyers should check their local jeweller's latest quoted rate before making a purchase. The volatility in the bullion market indicates continued uncertainty in gold and silver prices.
