Gold Prices Hold Steady in Baghdad and Erbil
Gold prices in Baghdad and Erbil remained stable on Tuesday, holding steady at levels seen the previous day. In Baghdad's Al-Nahr Street wholesale market, 21-carat Gulf gold was selling for 960,000 dinars per mithqal (about five grams) and buying at 956,000 dinars, unchanged from Monday morning. This means that Iraqi buyers are currently facing a price of over 930,000 dinars per mithqal for 21-carat gold, which surpassed one million dinars per mithqal for the first time on January 21, 2026.
At retail jewelry shops in Baghdad, prices ranged from 960,000 to 970,000 dinars per mithqal for 21-carat Gulf gold and between 930,000 to 940,000 dinars for Iraqi gold. The stability in gold prices is a welcome relief for investors and consumers alike, who were bracing themselves for potential price fluctuations.
In Erbil, the situation was similar, with 22-carat gold selling at 993,000 dinars per mithqal, 21-carat at 950,000 dinars, and 18-carat at 813,000 dinars. It appears that the current market trends are favoring stability over volatility in both cities.
