Gold Prices Hold Steady Near $4,100 Amid US Economic Data Anticipation
Gold prices held steady near $4,100 per ounce on August 5 as investors awaited key US economic data releases. Spot gold was up 0.1% at $4,078.24 per ounce, while spot silver traded largely unchanged at $59.54 per ounce.
The precious metal found support from a weaker US dollar, which typically boosts demand for gold by making it cheaper for buyers using other currencies. The US Dollar Index (DXY) was trading at 99.84.
However, gains in gold remained limited due to higher crude oil prices. Both Brent and WTI crude futures posted modest gains after falling below the $80 per barrel mark in the previous session.
