Gold Prices Hold Steady on September 1 Amid Global Sentiment
Indian bullion markets opened on a steady note for September 1, 2026, tracking international spot benchmarks and early currency market movements. The morning opening prices across various purity grades of gold were announced.
The 24K pure gold rate per gram was ₹15,676, while the rate per 10 grams was ₹1,56,760. This grade is suitable for digital gold, bullion coins, and investment bars. In contrast, 22K (91.6% pure) gold priced at ₹14,369 per gram and ₹1,43,690 per 10 grams is ideal for durable festive and bridal jewelry.
18K (75.0% pure) gold, used in diamond-studded and daily wear ornaments, cost ₹11,757 per gram and ₹1,17,570 per 10 grams. Major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai saw similar opening rates for 24K gold at ₹1,56,910, ₹1,56,760, ₹1,56,760, ₹1,56,760, and ₹1,56,760 respectively.
Global market sentiment, pre-festive demand build-up, and currency watch were the key drivers behind today's opening rates. Retail physical demand remains active as consumers and jewelers prepare for peak festive and wedding procurement in September.
