Gold Prices Hover Near $4,500 Ahead of CPI Data
The gold market is experiencing a bit of noise in early trading on Thursday as investors await the European Central Bank's interest rate decision, expected to be a 25 basis point increase.
This development may have a bearing on gold prices in the coming days, but it's the inflation data that could have a more significant impact. The US will release its Consumer Price Index (CPI) tomorrow, which might provide crucial insights into inflationary pressures in the country.
The current gold price is stuck at around $4,428.0, just below the key resistance level of $4,500.0 and above the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $4,396.3 and the 200-day EMA at $4,341.1.
The market's indecision is evident, with the price consolidating in this range while awaiting further information on inflation and interest rates. This uncertainty could lead to a volatile period for gold prices as more data becomes available.
