Gold Prices in Bangladesh Plummet with New Reductions

On August 31, 2026, Probashir Diganta reported that the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a reduction in gold prices in the local bullion market. The new prices took effect on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The price of 22-carat gold per bhori was reduced by 7,107 taka, from BDT 2,47,743 to BDT 2,40,636. Similarly, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori decreased by 6,713 taka, from BDT 2,36,604 to BDT 2,29,891.

The prices for 18-carat and traditional (Sonaton) gold were also reduced, with a decrease of 5,854 taka and 4,747 taka respectively. The new prices are as follows: 22 Carat Gold - BDT 2,40,636 per bhori, 21 Carat Gold - BDT 2,29,891 per bhori, and 18 Carat Gold - BDT 1,97,333 per bhori.
