Gold Prices in Bangladesh Rise as BAJUS Announces New Rates
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices in the local bullion market on Saturday, August 22, 2026. According to the new price list, the highest quality 22-carat gold per bhori has been increased by 5,482 taka from the previous price of 2,40,628 taka to the new price of 2,46,110 taka.
The prices for other types of gold also saw an increase: 21-carat gold per bhori rose by 5,254 taka, from the previous price of 2,29,781 taka to the new price of 2,35,035 taka; and 18-carat gold per bhori increased by 4,491 taka, from the previous price of 1,97,355 taka to the new price of 2,01,846 taka.
The association also noted that buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT added to the fixed price for selling gold ornaments, as well as a minimum making charge of BDT 3,500 per 'bhori' applied.
