Gold Prices in Chennai Spike by ₹65 Per Gram
Chennai's gold market experienced an increase in prices on August 8, 2026. According to the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA), both 22K and 18K gold prices rose by ₹65 per gram. The association released the latest morning rates, which show that 22K gold is priced at ₹13,965 per gram and 18K gold at ₹11,780 per gram.
The silver rate in Chennai remained unchanged at ₹250 per gram. The price increase for both types of gold can be attributed to various factors, including international bullion prices, currency movements, global economic conditions, central bank policies, and domestic demand.
