Gold Prices Plummet After Revised US Employment Data Reveals Job Loss
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics released revised employment data on Friday, showing a downward adjustment to nonfarm payrolls numbers over the last year.
The preliminary estimate revealed a -79,000 job loss in the past 12 months leading up to March 2026, representing a 0.1 percent decline from previous estimates.
This revision comes amidst other economic data releases, including Federal Reserve Chair Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole and final consumer sentiment numbers.
As a result of this news, spot gold prices plummeted to $4,543.80 per ounce before recovering slightly to $4,564.05, representing an 0.83 percent loss on the day.
